SiC is a ceramic with strong covalent bonding and has a hardness that surpasses alumina. It is particularly excellent in high-temperature strength and also has outstanding corrosion resistance.

Silicon carbide (SiC) takes advantage of its heat resistance (even over 1,000 degrees), chemical resistance (plasma resistance), good wear resistance, thermal conductivity, density, and strength.
